(REVIEW) Ring: Spotlight Cam

Home security has never really been at the top of my priority list, naive to say the least since our country is ranked amongst the most dangerous places to live.  However since becoming a mom about +-7 weeks ago, my whole life has changed as well as my perspective on creating a safe environment not only for myself but for my child too. The safety & security of my family has become of utmost importance hence when I was asked to review the Ring Spotlight Cam, it was a complete no brainer.

A square compact box arrived containing all the elements for an easy set up.
I started the set up process by downloading the Ring app from the Google Play store and then signing up with my email address. Once your email has been verified. You will go onto the app & it will ask you to confirm your location. Then you will specify where you will be mounting your camera, i.e Backyard, Front, Side etc Once you have followed the instructions you will then be in setup mode.
The app would ask you to switch on the camera using the button on top of the device. You will then be asked to secure the information for the wifi connection you will be using. The device actually starts talking to you & it will take you through further steps if required. So easy!

We then installed the camera to the front section of our property & then as I sat in my bedroom I could view my car safely parked in our driveway. Voila! You can even give your friends or family that you trust access to your device to view live feed & view video recordings, however they wont be able to change device settings which is great. There are even step by step videos to assist you with installation which helps make the process so simple. Ive added some screenshots from my app.

Features of the Ring Spotlight Cam:

  • 1080p HD Video
  • Two-Way Talk
  • Advanced Motion Detection
  • Night Vision
  • Live-View
  • Weather Resistant
  • LED floodlights
  • Remote-activated 110dB alarm

I am so impressed with the clarity & the clear picture display. No grainy videos, you can even set up motion detection which is a great added feature. It instantly makes me feel safer, whether i'm inside my home or away from my home. I can keep track of all the recordings via the Ring App. Another thing I love about this device is the 2 way setting, which means I can literally talk to the person at the front door without having to be at the front door. Perfect when you don't want to answer the door on specific days, and would much rather talk through the camera. Great when you're a new mom and most of my daily operations happens from the comfort of my bed.
